European Hawks

There are three types of hawks in Europe, which all belong to the genus Accipiter. Compared to other European raptors, European hawk species are mostly small raptors, except for the Northern Goshawk, which is a medium-sized raptor.

The hawks of Europe are generally very fast hunters that take their prey on, or near, the ground. In contrast to falcons, they like to fly low over the ground and use cover to approach their prey without being seen.
