In this guide, I am going to talk about this new FIFA 25 tactics system and go into detail and explain all of its features.
Setting Up New FIFA 25 Tactics
First, to create a new tactic, go to Team Management > New Tactic. Here you will find a lot of options, which we will be discussing now.
Tactical Preset: As the name suggests, these are presets designed by the game. To design our tactics, set this option to FIFA 25 custom tactics.
Formation: As of now, there are 29 formations available in FC 25. Here is where you can decide the formation of your team, be it 4-4-1, 4-3-3 attack, and so on. FC 25 has also made quite a few changes to formations.
Everyone’s favorite 4-3-2-1 now needs a workaround by using the 4-4-1 flat formation with changes to FIFA 25 tactics. An easy way to import that FIFA 25 formation is through the new code feature.

Build-Up Style: There are three options under this: short passing, balanced, and counter.
Short passing allows your team to maintain a defensive approach for a longer time. The FC 25 players will come short in support of the ball carrier instead of going forward; this safe approach is what makes it more defensive.
Balanced varies between both forward runs and coming short. Unlike short passing, the FIFA 25 formation is going to be more balanced.
Counter allows the FC 25 players to get behind the opponent’s defense, as the team adapts quickly from defense to attack.
Defensive Approach has four variations: deep, balanced, high, and aggressive. Along with these, you have a slider to adjust the “Line Height.” This is usually set between 50 and 70 for most FIFA 25 formations.
FC 25 Players Roles Explained
If you’ve played FC 24, think of player roles as instructions. There is nothing to fret about when looking at these new options; it is very easy to work with tactics in EA FC 25.
There are FC 25 players with standard roles, + roles, and also ++ roles. All the players have at least one + role, and only a few superstars have the ++.
While arranging the team, if you see a yellow marker, it means that your player is “out of position” and you need to fix it.
Focus further modified your FIFA 25 tactics. For example: you can set the player to defend, attack, balance, etc.
