The White-tailed Eagle is the largest eagle in Europe. Recently their numbers have increased in many countries, including the Ukraine, as you can read in this interview recently published on europeanraptors.org. The current population in the Ukraine is 100-120 breeding pairs.
The Ukrainian Birds of Prey Research Centre (UBPRC) has published a new report about wintering White-tailed Eagles near the Kremenchuhske Reservoir (Ukraine):

There, the researchers could see more than 100!! White-tailed Eagles in one place. Surely a spectacular site. The eagles concentrate at fish ponds. So far the attitude of the pond owners and employees towards the eagles seems to be friendly.
Not all of those eagles are breeding in the Ukraine. Many of them are migrants going to the ponds for the food.
