Ian Anderson was born on August 10, 1947, in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. When he was young, his father ran the RSA Boiler Fluid company in East Port, as a result, Anderson spent his early years in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The family relocated to Blackpool, England in 1959 where he attended the Blackpool Grammar School. While a teenager, Anderson began to hustle, working at a department store and vendor at a newsstand. From 1964 to 1966, Aderson studied fine arts at Blackpool College of Art.
Music Career
Ian Anderson formed The Blades a music band with some of his schoolmates. He was the vocalist of the band and harmonical player in the soul and blues band. The band included members like John Even, Jeffrey Hammon, and Barrymore Barlow. The members later formed Jethro Tull.
The band played their first performance at the Holy Family Church Hall in North Shore, England before they moved into London, basing themselves in Luton.
